A black woman's motivational blog about life and traveling.

Let's Get Acquainted

Hey Travelistos!
If you are reading this, then you are currently a witness to passion project 1 of 100. WELCOME, BIENVENIDO, SALUD, YOKOSO, let's live, laugh, love and scream with me as we enter this journey together of motivational and honest travel blogging.

Writing has always been one of my main sources of positive escapism. In the 2nd grade it was introduced to me in the form of poetry. It became my one true and constant solace during my adolescent years as I dealt with some very difficult feelings revolving being an immigrant, my accent, my speech impediment, my skin tone, and how my beauty was perceived. Travel on the other hand became a form of enjoyment for me, over the last  7 years. I have had some good times, some bad times and everything in between. I will be exploring those moments with you all. Dissecting the good, the bad, and the just straight up ugly.

Furthermore, this blog will be dedicated to the providing real life experiences from the lenses of a non-ambiguous dark skin black woman. I will be discussing my local and international travels from the past, present and future. Topics of discussion includes, but are not limited to flights, accommodations, foods, fashion, aesthetic locations, excursions, culture and more.

At 26, I am focused on exploring what it means to be a thriving, peaceful, successful and content me. I am exploring new foods as a reformed picky eater. I am exploring the complexities of adult friendships, as well as the complexity of family and intimate relationships. And last and definitely not least, I am exploring the world and the value I have/hold  within it.

Moreover, In terms of education I went to basic/primary school in Jamaica. Middle-High between Georgia/NYC-Bronx. I completed my Undergrad in Behavioral Science at Mercy University, currently obtaining my Dual Master in Special Education/ Elementary Education Grades 1-6 with a completion date of Dec 2025. I'm employed part time, where I work with children with disabilities. My goal is to be become employed in either education, education reform, children welfare reform, mental health advocacy, international affairs revolving travel/education/children, etc. Anyway I can combine my passion for writing, travel, education, immigrants, and the well being of children is my ultimate path. In terms of education I plan to obtain my 3rd and final degree (JD), in a few years to become an Attorney in a related field of interest listed above.

Finally, on my time of leisure  you can catch me reading, writing, going to the gym, hanging out with friends or specifically my closest friend Shanice. Going on the occasional date, hiking, biking, kayaking, or going on my occasional solo-dates. I try to be a very well rounded person for the most part, I say hobbyist others might say ADHD.

Thank you so much for being apart of this journey and community, all the best and may we continue to learn, grow, and explore together!

Ps: Any questions, comments, inquiries, praises or concerns you are always welcomed to reach me directly through the contact us section, or on my IG /Tiktok, Tia Travelista!
